Bruce Selkirk, CEO and President of Crossing Rocks Energy, has worked in the oil and natural gas industry for 27 years. Outside of his professional life, Bruce Selkirk contributes to the fight against cancer. Fueled by his first wife’s passing in 2012, the entrepreneur, in conjunction with Baylor University researchers, has made raising money for breast cancer research a priority.

Baylor’s Breast Cancer Research Program promotes learning about the disease to improve treatment and prevention therapies. The research center also transitions laboratory research into clinical practice, creates opportunities for both inter- and intra-programmatic interactions, and fosters an educational environment for students, post-doctoral researchers, and trainees. The focus is on topics such as stem cell research, therapeutic resistance, metastasis, and understanding the immune environment.

Baylor’s research program is internationally renowned and includes an impressive portfolio of clinical trials, including those that are investigator-initiated and others involving the American College of Surgeons and thehealthcare industry. SPORE (Specialized Program in Research Excellence), a federally-funded initiative, is also a part of the Baylor program, which has produced research culminating in important therapeutic and prevention trials.

Baylor’s program is comprised of researchers from diverse fields. The 25-member staff includes professionals in biology, genetics, and molecular pathology, in addition to researchers with expertise in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of breast cancer.
